On June 2, 2017, LINUJ released the demo of the first chapter through his blog, and then later released the updated version on Septem. Between the release of prologue and demo of the first chapter, LINUJ posted a revised sprite of Setsuka Chiebukuro's design alongside a set of early pixel sprites. During production of the prologue and the first chapter, LINUJ updated his blog with screenshots of the daily life segments, minigames, and more.
Production for the prologue and first chapter began during 2016, and continued until a pre-release of the prologue was released through LINUJ's blog on Febru. From June 15th, 2015, to October 10, 2016, profiles of the characters were published on LINUJ's blog. On the same day LINUJ teased several sample screenshots, not from the final game, showing Sora, Yuki Maeda, Yoruko Kabuya (name unknown at the time), Shobai Hashimoto, and Teruya Ōtori, and a prototype logo. Super Danganronpa Another 2 was announced on LINUJ's Tistory on June 13, 2015, just two days after he released the final chapter of Danganronpa Another. While writing Super Danganronpa Another 2 LINUJ wanted to cut many ties with the original games created by Kodaka, in favour of creating an original game series called the Another Series. Similarly to his first project, Super Danganronpa Another 2 is a one man production produced solely by LINUJ and Night Snow (밤논박이), who had previously worked on the IF Stories. The idea for a sequel was worked on during the conclusion of LINUJ's first fangame Danganronpa Another, both after seeing the support he had received from fans of his game and after feeling interest in creating a Danganronpa Fangame that contained a lot of his own personal tastes. Another side story, focusing on the aftermath of the Kisaragi Foundation, was released on. The first part of an additional side story: 'Queen of Despair' was uploaded to LINUJ's blog on Christmas Day, 2022. An English Fandub of Super Danganronpa Another 2 is currently in development, with the first chapter and prologue fully dubbed as of February, 2021. Numerous translations in multiple languages are currently in-progress. Super Danganronpa Another 2 is fully available in Korean.
The game acts as the second and final part of the series. The game is the sequel to LINUJ's first fangame Danganronpa Another ~ Another Despair Academy ( 단간론파 어나더 ~또 하나의 절망학원~), which he finished two years prior to the production of Super Danganronpa Another 2.
